Bio-Mechanical Assessment
Osteopathy for the rider, allows a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. It works with the structure and function of the body, and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together. Osteopaths have a holistic approach and believe that your whole body will work well if your body is in good structural balance.
This is also extended to your horse, and he/she too will receive a full bio-mechanical assessment, consisting of thorough observation and analysis standing, walking, trotting and turning. In some instances, it may be beneficial to view the horse being lunged or ridden, however this is not necessarily always a requirement.

Hands-On Examination
Osteopaths are trained to examine areas of the body using a highly-developed sense of touch known as palpation. Refined palpation skills will be used to physically examine muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons in order to identify any areas of dysfunction, imbalance, restrictions or pain.
Treatment
After a thorough examination and interpretation of findings, the most appropriate osteopathic techniques will be selected in order to tailor treatment to you and your horse effectively.
Aftercare and Exercise Advice
Full aftercare and exercise advice will be provided, as well as any stretches that may be beneficial for you and your horse.
We can help you understand some simple anatomy of your horse throughout the treatment, which can support you to successfully train your horse in the correct way, thus optimising bio-mechanics and helping to ensure a longer career.
